PRESS & QUOTES

The best bit of advice I ever heard regarding writing was you can’t learn to write. Go and live and then write about it and hope it’s good. So I went and lived my life. I’ve done jobs where I spent hours alone, with nothing but my thoughts, and other jobs where I’d interact with thousands of people in a single shift and all of it has, or will, some day make it into my work. For me writing has two purposes, asking questions and providing answers. If it can be entertaining and enjoyable then that’s a bonus and a benefit because people will learn a lot more when information is presented as entertainment rather than work or study. Especially if it’s subjects they don’t have an inherent interest in, worry they don’t have the intellectual capacity to understand, or are things they fear in the real world they would rather ignore. The combining of all the elements I just mentioned is the foundation of my work, it’s not for everyone but that’s OK. We’re all telling the same stories, but in different ways, and I’m just happy and privileged to be a piece in the puzzle. For those of you that choose to explore my work, thank you. I hope you learn something and enjoy it. For those of you who are already fans, who already enjoy my work, you should probably seek professional help.

I meant it when I say I was born knowing what’s wrong with the world. Most children have nightmares about being chased by monsters. Mine were filed powerful people in robes doing evil shit. Which was the subject of my first screenplay that I wrote when I was 9 years old on my mums electric typewriter, which weighed almost as much as I did. Where we lived was cramped so I had to balance the thing on my lap and it was so heavy it would make my legs go numb but I didn’t care however many hours it took I had to get what was in my head down on paper, I thought it was important and a bit of physical discomfort wasn’t even a consideration. That first film contained all of the elements that one way or another in different guises made their way into all my work so far.

‘We are ruled by the least among us and they are unfit for purpose. They are the physical manifestation of evil a very real force that exists in diametric opposition an equally real force. The two are locked in a constantly ebbing and flowing conflict for supremacy. This current period where we are physically manifest in the material realm is a nexus point. We are moving from one era of existence into another and whether we know it or not we are all actively involved in a battle to decide which fork in the road we will take. The outcome of this battle will for better or worse define the nature and structure of the reality that humanity will experience and live within for thousands of years to come.’
